Niagara Falls mayor gets behind campaign for new blood donors

Special to Bullet News

Canadian Blood Services is looking for new donors and Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati is eager to help.

Diodati is encouraging the community to give blood on Feb. 27 from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Optimist Youth Park. You might even catch the mayor handing out juice and cookies.

The goal of the clinic is to bring out as many new donors as possible. To achieve this
goal, Diodati has enlisted the support of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee. MYAC members will be working  during the month of February, recruiting donors for the mayor’s clinic.

All blood donors must make an appointment by linking onto www.blood.ca or by calling 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).

All donors must be 17 years or over. To be an eligible donor, there are a series of
qualifying questions that each donor needs to complete. The entire process for giving
blood takes about an hour.
