45 wineries to participate in Cuvee wine route passport tastings

ST. CATHARINES – Even those who can’t make it to this year’s annual Cuvée Gala will have the opportunity to get their very own taste of Niagara’s foremost wine and food celebration. From Friday, March 1, through Sunday, March 3, wine lovers can enjoy Cuvée-themed tastings at 45 Niagara wineries through the Cuvée en Route touring program.

Cuvée en Route passport holders can travel Niagara’s Wine Route enjoying complimentary rare tasting flights and seven different winery restaurant promotions. Each winery will offer a flight of complimentary wines, choosing from a list of themes that includes winemakers selection, older vintages, limited editions, as well as horizontal and vertical flights of distinctive varieties. Designed specifically with the serious wine lover in mind, the tasting flights provide access to wines that are not ordinarily available on a winery visit.

Passport holders will also have access to seven unique dining opportunities including specially priced or prix fixe menus and featured dishes at participating winery restaurants. On Saturday and Sunday, Passport holders will also have the first opportunity to purchase the Cuvée award winning wines announced at Friday’s Cuvée Gala, vintages that often sell out to eager buyers.

“There is never a shortage of things to experience in Wine Country. Cuvée en Route gets you started by offering collections of unusual and rare wines as well as great options for lunches and dinners. Time to get out and explore!” says Debi Pratt of the Cuvée committee and spokesperson for Inniskillin Wines.

A brochure detailing each winery’s themed tastings and winery restaurant events can be downloaded at www.cuvee.ca. Cuvée Weekend tickets are available at www.cuvee.ca or by calling 905-684-8688. Cuvée en Route admission can be purchased separately for $30.00 per person, via the same outlets or at participating wineries on Cuvée Weekend. Ticket and event information, details about each winery’s Cuvée en Route tastings, overnight accommodation packages, and event announcements can all be found on the Cuvée web site, www.cuvee.ca.
