Family Day Fest a whole lot of fun for everyone

The Family Day long weekend featured a special treat for families at the Scotia Bank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls as the Family Day Fest kicked into gear for three days featuring some amazing rides and entertainment.

The event was like a mini midway planted inside so everyone could have a good time while keeping clear of the cold weather.

Everything from bumper cars, bouncy castles and fun houses to the huge King Croc Slide were all under one roof and for the really adventurous a huge simulated mountain scaling attraction had tons of kids lined up to test their climbing skills.

Other unique things to do included an interactive DJ and the ever popular face painting.

Natasha Schooncroodt, one of the painters who was creating a mini-ghoul as she spoke said it started out a little slow at her booth but once she did a couple of kids faces it got crazy busy “but it’s been a great day and really nice to see families come out.”

Director of operations for Superior Events Ben Freeman said, “we’ve done this event many times in Toronto and the surrounding area and we thought it would be a great opportunity to come out to Niagara and get all the people from the surrounding neighborhoods to come out and enjoy family day.”

Although this is something new for the convention centre Freeman said the response was tremendous.

“We’ve had a great turnout and just today there has probably been about 1000 people that have come through the space today.  We are expecting to double that before it is over.”

He adds that if you missed this one you are not out of luck because “we are actually coming back in March break and we are going to double the size of the event.  It will be a weeklong.”
