St. Catharines gas bar robbed by knife-wielding thief

ST. CATHARINES – Police in St. Catharines are searching for a male suspect who robbed a gas station at knifepoint Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:39 p.m. at the Avondale Gas Bar, located at 431 Welland Ave.

Niagara Regional Police say the gas station attendant was confronted by a man with a knife who demanded money.

The suspect is decsribed as an Asian male, about five-feet, nine-inches tall, with a slight moustache wearing a black three-quarter length winter coat with the hood up.

The victim complied with the robber’s demands and the suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money in an older-model, white, two-door Honda Civic with tinted windows and black, winter-style rims.

The vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on Grantham Avenue.
