NIAGARA FALLS – Sometimes you have to go indoors to check out the best of what the outdoors has to offer.

Thousands of nature enthusiasts and leisure lovers are expected to attend this weekend’s Niagara Outdoor Sports & Boat Show at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls.

The massive trade show occupies some 80,000-square feet of the convention centre’s Exhibit Hall.

The event kicked off Friday with an official ribbon cutting with Mayor Jim Diodati in attendance.

“This event is a perfect example of our City’s progress,” said Diodati, referring to the success the $100-million facility has enjoyed since its grand opening last April.

“The Scotiabank Convention Centre adds a dynamic piece to the vibrancy of our city and the region. Now, more than ever, we are able to welcome guests and visitors 365 days of the year — we are truly a four-season destination.”

Canadian Outdoor Sports Show Manager Andrew Pallotta said bringing this kind of event to Niagara Falls has always been a dream.

In addition to the exhibits, visitors to Niagara Outdoor Sports & Boat Show awill be able to participate in a number of seminars covering topics including Muskoka wildlife, fishing and kayaking.

Children can either enjoy improving their fishing techniques or their paddling at one of two massive water tanks.
