Bullet News
Thumbs Up to all of the students and community volunteers who participated in Earth Day/Earth Week cleanup projects across Niagara this past week, taking the time to rid our streets, parks, playgrounds, schools, businesses and public spaces of litter. Now, if we can just keep it up all year long, we’ll really be paying tribute to the spirit of Earth Day.
Thumbs Down to the provincial Liberals for their proposed Bill 50, which is supposed to bring more accountability to Ontario’s troubled and scandle-plagued air ambulance system, ORNGE. As revealed by The Toronto Star, Thursday, the proposed new legislation would prevent Ontario’s ombudsman from using his watchdog powers and block citizens from making freedom-of-information requests about the inner workings at ORNGE. We can’t help but think that had these measures, this mess that has cost taxpayers millions of dollars might not have been able to fester in the shadows for so long.
Thumbs Up to the Niagara IceDogs for advancing to the Ontario Hockey League finals by eliminating the Ottawa 67s Friday night.
Thumbs Up to Cairn Croft in Niagara Falls for serving the best burger in all of Niagara.
Thumbs Up while we are at it to Jake’s chip truck in Niagara Falls for cooking up the best fries in the whole region.
Thumbs Down to Regional Council for making a very short sighted decision by allowing the Niagara Falls Provincial Offences office to be closed.
Thumbs Down to the Greater Niagara General Hospital for not being able to spell the word visitors correctly. In the emergency department there are numerous signs that say NO VISITOR’S. Either they mean NO VISITORS or they meant NO VISITOR’S (SOMETHING), since with an apostrophe it’s in the possessive.
Thumbs Up to a great night at Club Italia on Thursday when a new sopressata champion was crowned.
