WELLAND – Niagara Regional Police have arrested two people in connection with a string of fires in Welland.
Police had been investigating six fires they say were intentionally set on Sunday and Monday.
Four fires were contained to dumpsters.
The two most recent fires happened at a vacant home at 561 King St., and at Welland South School, located at 170 Broadway St.
Charged are 22-year-old Kyle Lens and 18-year-old Michael Rensen, both of Welland.
Both are accused are charged with two counts of break, enter and commit arson and four counts of arson causing damage to property.
Lens and Renson are being held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday in St. Catharines court.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the NRP detachment in Welland in at 905-688-4111, ext. 3354.
