CRIME: Group of young men assaulted and robbed while walking in Welland

WELLAND – A group of young adult males were attacked and robbed while out for a walk in Welland early Saturday.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m.



Niagara Regional Police say the victims were walking in the area of Rice Road and Thorold Road when they were attacked from behind and physically assaulted by three unidentified male suspects.

The victims had their wallets and other personal items stolen. One of them had his cell phone taken.

The only suspect description provided by the victims to police is that the attackers were white males, roughly 17-25 years of age.

The suspects were last seen fleeing the area southbound on Rice Road in a white vehicle.

Paramedics treated the victims at the scene for non-life threatening injuries. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Det. Serg. Jason Nesbitt or Det. Const. Wayne Brown at 905-688-4111, ext. 3355 or 3343.
