HEALTH: Free CPR certification with Heart Niagara

Bullet News

Heart Niagara is hosting a CPR blitz, which is free training for members of the public so that they can become lifesavers.

An estimated 115,000 heart attacks and cardiac arrests combined occur in Canada each year – that’s one every four minutes. Without CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), a person suffering a heart attack will have a 1 in 20 chance of survival. If bystander CPR is performed until paramedics arrive, that person’s chance of survival will increase to 1 in 4.

The use of an AED (Defibrillator) with CPR before the arrival of Emergency Medical Services can increase the chance of survival by up to 75 per cent.
Email events@heartniagara.com for more information on future dates.
