NIAGARA – Niagara Regional Police launched their annual Festive RIDE campaign Saturday across the region, stopping some 1,200 vehicles during the blitz.
According to police, 11 drivers were arrested for impaired driving.
One driver was arrested for refusing to supply a breath sample.
Four drivers had their licences suspended for three days. Two drivers had their licences suspended for novice driver violations.
Officers also issued 23 Provincial Offence Notices for a variety of Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act infractions.
The NRP’s RIDE program will continue throughout the holidays and into the New Year in every community within the Niagara Region.
Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal deaths in Canada.
