THOROLD – A door-to-door labourer hired to rake leaves was stealing from his customers, police say.

The alleged incidents took place starting in November.

Niagara Regional Police say a man visited homes in Thorold with rake in hand asking to rake leaves for money.

Police say the same man would later return and and steal property from garages of the homes where he did work.

On Wednesday, 28-year-old Arron Doucette was arrested in Welland without incident. Doucette is charged with two counts of break and enter, two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation.

The accused was released from custody on a promise to appear in court in January to answer to the charges.

Police are asking anyone in the Thorold area who may have information about these or other incidents to contact investigators at 905-688-4111, ext 4272.
