CRIME: Niagara Regional Police target alleged cocaine trafficking ‘network’ in Welland; four people charged

WELLAND – Four people are facing drug trafficking charges as a result of multiple search warrants executed during the past week targeting an alleged cocaine dealing network in Welland.

On Nov. 28, Niagara Regional Police executed a warrant at a residence on the east side of the city. Investigators seized more $1,300 in cocaine, $1,100 in cash and a small amount of marijuana. Two people were arrested as a result of this search warrant.



The investigation, aided by the Niagara Regional Police Service Mobile Surveillance Unit, continued and on Wednesday, officers executed search warrants at three additional residences in Welland

During the searches, investigators seized more $7,900 worth of cocaine, $2,300 worth of marijuana, a small amount of prescription medication and more than $3,400 in Canadian and U.S. currency.

The following individuals have been charged:

Phil MacGillivray, 26, of Welland, is charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Royce Williams, 22, of Welland, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Gwendalyn Clarke, 46, of Welland, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Alicia Pate, 21, of Welland, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

MacGillivray and Williams were held in custody pending a bail hearing on today, while Clarke and Pate were released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
