UPDATED: Niagara IceDogs’ Strome collects three points as Canada downs Germany 9-3 in world junior opener

UFA, Russia – Ryan Strome of the Niagara IceDogs collected one goal and assisted on two others as Team Canada defeated Germany 9-3 Wednesday morning in the opening game of the World Junior Hockey Championships.

The game started at 4 a.m. EST.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins led the way with one goal and four assists in  a game where 13 Canadians picked up at least one point. Jonathan Huberdeau also scored once and assisted on two.



Canada faces Slovakia on Friday, the United States on Sunday and then wraps up Pool B play New Year’s Eve against Russia.
