SAULT STE. MARIE – The Niagara IceDogs fell 7-3 to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Saturday night.
The first period saw the Soo open the scoring, but the IceDogs answered right back as Anthony DiFrusica connected to make it 1-1 5:16 in. Sault Ste. Marie continued the scoring, striking three more times before the end of the period.
The second was quiet for 15 minutes, but the Greyhounds then tallied three times in the final five minutes.
Bo Bessette took over in goal for the third period, making his IceDogs debut. Ondrej Kopta scored at the 12:11 mark of the third to make it 7-2. Carter Verhaeghe then added another just over two minutes later to make it 7-3.
The IceDogs will now return home to host the Erie Otters on Monday in their annual New Year’s Eve game.
