Thumbs Up to our Canadian in space; Thumbs Down to Harper, NHL players and owners, and snowstorms

Bullet News

Thumbs Down to Prime Minister Stephen Harper for refusing to meet with fasting aboriginal Chief Theresa Spence. We don’t approve of Spence’s theatrics, either, but the fact remains that the prime minister meets with a host of special interest representatives as part of his job. There is no legitimate reason he can provide for refusing to sit down with Spence.

Thumbs Down to all the forced indignation stemming from the so-called attempts to remove Christmas from this special time of the year. Really, what does it matter if someone wishes us Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas? Sure, there are poltically-correct idiots out there who are carried away with their own self-importance. But Christmas is not under attack. It never has been and never will be. Relax and enjoy what is left of the season.

Thumbs Down to snowstorms. Yes, we know this is Canada. Yes, we also know it is the end of December. And yes, we still object to snow.

Thumbs Up to Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian to command the International Space Station. Hadfield continues Canada’s proud tradition of space science and exploration and we are rightly proud of him.

Thumbs Down to the league and the players in the ongoing NHL dispute. What a bunch of greedy children. What ever happened to sportsmanship and to pleasing the crowds? Time for fans to send them a strong message. If they do resume this year, just don’t buy tickets or watch games on TV for the rest of the year.

Thumbs Down to Dollarama for stocking their shelves with Valentine’s Day candy two days before Christmas. Really? You can’t at least wait unti the new year?
