BORDER: Buffalo Sabres, border officials team up to promote NEXUS enrollment

NIAGARA – The NEXUS Niagara campaign team – consisting of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (PBA), Niagara Falls Bridge Commission (NFBC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Southern Ontario Region, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) – has announced a partnership with the Buffalo Sabres regarding the issuance of a Public Service Announcement psa web video to encourage additional traveler enrollment in the NEXUS program.

“The Buffalo Sabres organization continues to be an active supporter of the NEXUS program and has helped us produce a useful tool to educate local motorists regarding the benefits and time savings associated with trusted border travel,” said NEXUS Niagara campaign spokesman Matt Davison.

“Several hundred thousand hockey fans will see this PSA as they visit the First Niagara Center later this year and we also plan to share it with the more than 60 community groups and tourism interests that have joined our NEXUS Niagara ranks as campaign ambassadors.”

The NEXUS Niagara grassroots marketing campaign was launched in March 2012 in order to improve recognition of the benefits of trusted travel at area border crossings.

The effort has thus far yielded various undertakings to engage residents, answer questions, provide enrollment information, and highlight the advantages of NEXUS participation.

A website, traveling display, and series of outreach tools were also created to help NEXUS “ambassadors” promote enrollment.

The campaign has resulted in substantial increases in program interest and participation, including approval of the Buffalo Niagara region’s 100,000 individual enrolees in December 2012.
