Pedestrian dies after being hit by car at QEW and Dunkirk Road in St. Catharines

A 59-year-old St. Catharines man was struck and killed by a car Saturday evening near an entrance to the QEW.

Niagara Regional Police say at 8:15 p.m. the pedestrian was hit at the QEW and Dunkirk Road by a Pontiac Grand Am attempting to get on the highway.



The victim was pronounced dead at the scene while the 35-year-old man driving was not injured.

Police did not release names or indicate if charges are pending.

This incident remains under investigation by detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s – collision reconstruction unit. Any witnesses are asked to contact investigators at 905-688-4111, extension 5500.
