ST. CATHARINES – A 49-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges following an accident that sent two people to hospital suffering from serious injuries.
The incident happened Friday around 5:50 p.m.
Niagara Regional Police say a 23 year-old male from Thorold was operating his 2002 Nissan Altima northbound down Burleigh Hill Drive.
The Nissan also contained two additional passengers, a 21 year-old male and a 22 year-old male also from Thorold.
At the same time, a 49 year-old male from Thorold, was driving his 2002 Dodge Ram pick-up truck southbound up Burleigh Hill Drive. The driver lost control of the Dodge and began to spin into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it came collided with the Nissan.
The impact caused serious injuries to the 22 and 23 year-old. The 21 year-old received minor injuries.
Normando Lebrton, 49, is charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
The collision remains under investigation by members of the NRP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
