WEATHER ALERT: High wind warning issued for south Niagara

NIAGARA – Environment Canada has issued a high wind warning for Niagara Falls, Welland and the rest of south Niagara, effective from 4:45 a.m. Saturday.

The following is the text of the warning:

Wind warning for

Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region issued

West winds gusting to 90 km/h beginning tonight.

Southwest winds gusting up to 70 km/h will affect regions near Eastern Lake Erie for much of the day. However, as a strong low pressure system passes by to the north tonight, west winds will increase to 60 km/h gusting to 90 for Southern Niagara as well as Picton.

The high winds will diminish slowly on Sunday as the low pressure system moves into Quebec.
