There’s a brand new way for Niagara College students, staff and the community to keep track of events planned by the college’s event management students in 2013.
The app is now available to iPhone, iPad and Android users.
The app is a guide to student-planned events for the 2013 event season. It includes a full
listing of all events and key dates; a site map, directions and GPS map with key event locations; links to online ticketing; and videos and photos that may be shared via Twitter and Facebook. It also features EventCam, which allows users to enhance photos with a souvenir photo
frame and post them to Facebook and Twitter.
Jeff Stewart, chairman of Hospitality, Tourism and Administration at NC, said he believes this is the first student-driven event management app in Canada.
“As the event industry evolves and the level of technology required to drive successful businesses accelerates, it is imperative that our programs incorporate these advances into our teaching and learning,” said Stewart.
Events currently featured on the app include a series of fundraisers for the Many Hands Project – a student-driven renovation program that involves Event Management and Construction Studies students at the college. Each year, a local non-profit organization is chosen by the Many Hands Committee to receive assistance. Together, the students plan and execute the entire process including; completing the desired renovations, involving the community through volunteer recruitment and raising awareness for the non-profit organization.
