POLICE: Four people injured after car slides into trees, catches fire

NIAGARA FALLS – Four people were taken to hospital after a car slide out of control, crashed into trees and caught fire Monday night in rural Niagara Falls.

The accident happened around 7:35 p.m.



Niagara Regional Police say a black 2000 Ford Taurus containing four occupants from Welland, Ontario, was travelling west on Schisler Road just west of Lyons Creek Road.

The driver of the Ford lost control of the vehicle, which then left the roadway and entered a wooded lot on the south side of Schisler Road.

The Ford struck several trees which caused the vehicle to engulf in flames, police say.

The occupants managed to free themselves from the vehicle.

All four were taken to hospital. The most seriously injured victim was taken to Erie County Medical Centre in Buffalo.

The names and ages of the victims were not released by police.

The accidentn remains under investigation by members of the NRP’s collision reconstruction unit.
