NIAGARA FALLS – A male victim of a fiery car crash in Niagara Falls earlier this week has died.

The accident happened Monday around 7:35 p.m.

Niagara Regional Police say a black 2000 Ford Taurus containing four occupants from Welland, Ontario, was travelling west on Schisler Road just west of Lyons Creek Road.

The driver of the Ford lost control of the vehicle, which then left the roadway and entered a wooded lot on the south side of Schisler Road.

The Ford struck several trees which caused the vehicle to engulf in flames, police say.

The occupants managed to free themselves from the vehicle.

All four were taken to hospital. The most seriously injured victim was taken to Erie County Medical Centre in Buffalo.

Niagara Regional Police were notified Thursday by Erie County Medical Centre staff that their patient had succumbed to his injuries.

The names and ages of the victims have not been released by police.

The accident remains under investigation by members of the NRP’s collision reconstruction unit.

Witnesses are asked to contract investigators at 905-688-4111, ext. 5500.
