A Fort Erie man has been charged in connection with two sex offences in Port Colborne.

On Aug. 14, 2008, a man approached a young girl in the Salvation Army Store at 50 Clarence in St. Port Colborne. Police say the man used a mirror to look underneath the young girl’s dress while she was in the store. The man was confronted by the girls mother and quickly exited the store.

Then on July 19, 2012, a young girl was playing at H.H. Knoll Park in Port Colborne while her mother was nearby. The girl was using the slide, when she was grabbed and sexually assaulted by a male. The male left riding his bicycle.

Detectives from the Central Region of the Niagara Regional Police Service developed leads to both crimes and their investigation identified an accused.

Charged is Gerald Davis, 77, of Fort Erie with sexual assault, sec. 271 CC and voyeurism, sec. 162 CC.

Davis was held in custody pending the outcome of a bail hearing in St. Catharines Saturday.
