The following weather warning has been issued by Environment Canada for south Niagara, including Welland and Niagara Falls:

Wind warning for

Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region continued

Very strong southwest winds of 60 gusting to 100 km/h are have developed in the wake of a sharp Arctic cold front that raced east across the regions last night.

These winds will be strong enough to cause some tree damage and minor damage to structures, as well as making driving conditions quite difficult.

Winds will diminish somewhat this afternoon near Eastern Lake Erie and this evening near Lake Ontario.
