The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Erie Otters 5-1 Friday night.
The first period saw the IceDogs get off to a strong start when Ryan Strome ripped one home to make it 1-0 six minutes in.
The IceDogs did not let up there. Brett Ritchie jammed one home in front to make it 2-0 at the 14-minute mark. The visitors continued their roll only 39 seconds later when Brendan Perlini made it 3-0.
Erie answered early in the second, scoring only two minutes in to cut the IceDogs lead to 3-1. Steven Shipley replied with a goal of his own to extend the IceDogs lead back to three at 4-1.
The IceDogs locked things down in the third period and Strome would give the IceDogs a little more insurance adding his second goal of the game at the 11:59 mark of the period to make it 5-1.
The IceDogs return to St. Catharines tonight to host to the Mississauga Steelheads.
