Guy Lafleur coming to Niagara in May for sports celebrity dinner

Hockey legend Guy Lafleur headlines the seventh annual Niagara Children’s Sports Celebrity Dinner at Club Roma in St. Catharines on Tuesday, May 7.

Lafleur is a Hall of Fame right winger who played 17 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques.

Lafleur has won five Stanley Cup championships.

Proceeds from the dinner are donated to the Niagara Children’s Centre, which provides therapy to more than 3,000 children with physical, developmental or communicative disabilities from all 12 municipalities in the Niagara region.

Returning as the keynote speaker is former NHL star Dennis Hull, who has built a reputation as one of North America’s after-dinner speakers.

“Hull’s hilarious anecdotes and stories with his unique, distinctive style of delivery has pleased thousands over the years, many of them right here in the Niagara Peninsula,” said Jack Foster, the chair of the Niagara Children’s Centre Foundation.

Canadian Football Hall of Famer Angelo Mosca and former Toronto Maple Leaf and Boston Bruins goalie Ed Chadwick will be among the celebrities.

The organizers are currently lining up other sports celebrities to attend the fundraiser.

Dinner tickets can be purchased by calling the Children’s Centre at 905-688-3550 or at the Centre’s reception desk during regular business hours.

Tickets are $100 each with a $60 tax receipt, and are available in tables of eight, 10, 12 or individually.
