St. Catharines elementary school student dies

Niagara This Week

A 10-year-old girl has died after she was taken to hospital Tuesday afternoon as a result of a medical condition.

At around 1:45 p.m., police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Parnall Public School in St. Catharines. Once there, firefighters found the girl without signs of life. They administered CPR on the student and accompanied her as she was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Authorities are releasing little information about the incident, though Niagara Regional Police media officer Const. Derek Watson confirmed the student had died and that her death is believed to be related to a medical condition.

He said police are not treating the death as suspicious and will not be releasing any further information.
