BUSINESS: The Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce has some news to share

FORT ERIE – The Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce, along with Small Business Enterprise Centre of Niagara Falls will celebrate International Women’s Day with their 8th Annual networking luncheon on Friday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre, 1485 Garrison Rd.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Niagara’s own internationally syndicated “Between Friends” cartoonist, Sandra Bell-Lundy, who will offer a witty, personal, and candid presentation celebrating “the essence of women in all their stress-filled, scintillating glory.”

Attendees will also enjoy a delicious sit down luncheon, shopping at retail exhibitor booths, door prizes and afternoon of networking with women from across the Niagara Region.



“We are thrilled to offer an event that celebrates the successes and achievements of women”, said Karen Audet, Operations Manager at the Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce. “But this signature event sells out quickly so those wishing to attend should contact the Chamber to reserve their tickets.”

Cost for the event is $40 plus for Chamber members and $45 plus tax for non-members.

Later in the month the Fort Erie, Port Colborne/Wainfleet, Welland/Pelham, and Niagara Falls Chambers of Commerce will host The Southern Tier Mayors’ Luncheon on Friday, March 22 at Scotiabank Convention Centre, 6815 Stanley Avenue, Niagara Falls.

This event, beginning at 11:30 a.m. features presentations by mayors Doug Martin of Fort Erie, Dave Augustyn of Pelham, Vance Badawey of Port Colborne, April Jeffs of Wainfleet, Barry Sharpe of Welland and Jim Diodati of Niagara Falls. Tickets are $35 inclusive for Chamber members and $45 for non-members.

The Fort Erie Chamber also would like to remind the community that 2013 Bursary Applications are now available at the office or at the Chamber website, for any Grade 12 student residing in the Greater Fort Erie area who plan on continuing their post secondary education. Deadline to apply for one of four $500 bursaries is Friday, April 19.

Business owners who would like to become more actively involved in Chamber activities and strategic planning are encouraged to consider joining the volunteer board of directors for the 2013-2014 term.

Application forms, which must be submitted by deadline of Friday, March 15, are available at the Chamber office or on the website at www.forteriechamber.com.

The new board of directors will be officially sworn in at the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 18 at the Buffalo Canoe Club.
