Dog fight leads police to grow op in St. Catharines

Niagara This Week

Officers responding to a report of dogs fighting in the street Tuesday afternoon ended up finding a marijuana grow operation.

Police were called to the Avondale at 115 Carlton St. in St. Catharines just after 2 p.m. for a report of three dogs in the street. When an officer approached the animals, one of them turned on him. In the process, two of the dogs were shot. They were described as pit bull mixes. The third dog was captured by the Lincoln County Humane Society.

Niagara Regional Police media officer Derek Watson said officers traced the origins of the animals to a home down the street and discovered the dogs had escaped through the unlocked front door.

When they attempted to alert the homeowner of the situation, officers discovered the marijuana grow operation. The man was arrested, and police have secured the property while they wait for a search warrant.

I don’t think the dogs should have been short I highly doubt the dog attacked the cop if he did it’s because of fear for it’s safety I have seen the dog and it’s never attacked me and I live just down the street.

Love how their allowed to just walk in without Concent finding something illegal and then they get the warrant after to cover their asses I’d be fighting that and get it all dropped straight up!
