GUELPH – The Niagara IceDogs fell to the Guelph Storm by a score of 5-3 in Guelph on Friday night.
The first period saw rookie goalie Brent Moran stop 12 shots, allowing the IceDogs to take a 1-0 lead on a Shayne Rover shorthanded 2-on-1 goal with 0.7 seconds left.
The second period did not go as well for the IceDogs however as Guelph picked up three goals in the final six minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the third. Shots after 40 minutes were 27-13 Guelph.
The IceDogs closed the gap to one as Steven Shipley continued his strong play, scoring to make it a 3-2 game. Guelph answered back however minutes later to restore their two goal lead at 4-2. Anthony DiFruscia tipped one home in front to bring the IceDogs back within one at 4-3 with just under five minutes remaining. The Storm added an empty netter to make it a 5-3 final. Final shots were 41-22 Guelph.
