CRIME: Eight people arrested during drug raids in Port Colborne

PORT COLBORNE – Niagara Regional Police seized nearly $4,000 in cash and $900 worth of drugs during a series of raids Friday in Port Colborne.

In the early part of January, police began to receive information in regards to the sale of illicit drugs in the East Village section of Port Colborne, Ontario.



On Friday, investigators executed search warrants at three locations.

Charged in connection with this investigation are:

- Jeremy McGilvery, 26, of Port Colborne, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

- James Ruddy, 42, of Port Colborne, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

- Steven Mark Cote, 30, of Port Colborne, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

- Stephanie Ort, 30, of Port Colborne, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime uncer $5,000

- Brenda Lassiter, 52, of Port Colborne, is charged with possession of a controlled substance

- Jeremy Rankin, 36, of Port Colborne, is charged with breach of a recognizance

- Guy Cote, 60, of Port Colborne, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession contrary to order

- Dallas Cote, 18, of Port Colborne, is charged with obstructing justice

Brenda Lassiter was given a future court date and released on a officer-in-charge undertaking.

Jeremy Rankin, Jeremy McGilvery, James Ruddy, Steven Mark Cote, Stephanie Ort, Guy Cote, and Dallas Cote were held in custody pending a bail hearing on Saturday.
