The Niagara IceDogs lost 5-2 to the Brampton Battalion Thursday in their final home game of the season at Jack Gatecliff Arena.
The IceDogs got off to a quick start as Steven Shipley scored on the powerplay. Shipley’s goal was his IceDogs record 16th powerplay goal of the season. The Battalion were quick to respond however and tied things up just over 4 minutes later. Undeterred, the IceDogs continue to skate hard and picked up their second goal at the 15:46 as Brett Ritchie netted his 41st of the season.
The second period saw tempers flare as both teams battled hard for the duration of the frame. With only one minute left to play in the period, the Battalion found the back of the net to tie the game up at 2-2- heading into the third period.
In the last period of the game, despite outshooting the Battalion 16-5, Brampton netted three goals to give the game a final tally of 5-2.
