ST. CATHARINES – Niagara Regional Police seized an estimated $313,000 worth marijuana and $7,000 in cash while dismantling a grow-op based inside a town house across the street from an elementary school.
Members of the NRP’s Guns, Gangs and Grows unit executed a search warrant at the Berkley Drive residence around 1 p.m. Friday.
“A thorough search of the residence revealed an elaborate marijuana growing operation, which was separated into three separate rooms. Each room had maturing marijuana plants in different stages of growth,” police said in a statement issued later in the day Friday.
One person was arrested.
Saksith Sengsouriya, 34, of St.Catharines is charged with production of a Schedule II substance, marijuana possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of breach of probation.
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing Saturday.
