FORT ERIE – The provincial government has given the Niagara Health System the green light to begin its latest renovation project at Douglas Memorial Hospital.
The $500,000 project will see the relocation of all complex-care beds at the Fort Erie hospital to one area.
Other improvements to palliative care area will also be undertaken.
“This is a great step forward for health care in Fort Erie,” said Interim President and CEO Dr. Sue Matthews.
“We are grateful to the Ontario government for their support of this project, and we look forward to enhancing the environment and experience for those we serve at Douglas Memorial Hospital.”
Construction will commence immediately, during which the NHS team will work to minimize disruption to patient care, hospital officials say.
