Niagara This Week
Niagara Parks Police are looking for anyone who may know what caused two brush fires in the Niagara Glen on Monday.
The parks police received multiple 911 calls shortly before 3:30 p.m. on April 8 to inform them of the fires in the Glen, located at 3050 Niagara Pkwy.
Two separate fires were located, one small fire near the north entrance to the Glen trail system and the second larger fire further north along the red trail system in an area known as “Pebbly Beach”. Members of the Niagara Parks Police High Angle River Team hiked into the Glen to ensure that anyone hiking could safely find their way out and canvass for any available witnesses to the possible cause of the fire. Members of the Niagara Falls Fire Department hiked into the Glen and extinguished the large brush fires estimated to be in an area of approximately 50 metres in circumference.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Niagara Parks Police at 905-356-1338 ext. 0 or Crime Stoppers Niagara at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Tips can also be submitted online at www.niagaratips.com, or via text message to 274637 (CRIMES), keyword “Niagara”, followed by the tip.
