NIAGARA – Thank you to everyone who joined us for a beautiful day on Sunday, May 5 to “Celebrate a Life”” by walking in honour of a loved one, and enjoy a great BBQ & Entertainment.
The Hike for Hospice Niagara is a one-day event that brings the community together in support of hospice palliative care in the Niagara region.
This year’s Hike for Hospice Niagara took place on Sunday, May 5th at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie.
Registration began at noon, followed by a “Celebrate a Life” memorial service and the hike where hundreds of friends, supporters and volunteers joined in this special fundraising event to walk in honour of a loved one and spend an afternoon with great friends.
The hike was followed by a delicious BBQ, live entertainment and a chance for fellow hikers to meet, share stories and build new and lasting friendships.
All proceeds raised from the hike will be used to support Hospice Niagara’s programs and services. Hospice Niagara relies on community donations for operational support of our programs and services.
In fact, $700,000 in funding is needed each year to provide valuable services to those in our community whose time becomes limited.
This year, we welcomed nearly 360 hikers to our 11th Annual Hike for Hospice Niagara.
Together we raised more than $62,000 for Hospice Niagara’s programs and services. Approximately 35 people volunteered their time to help make the 2013 hike a success.
“Each year, we are thrilled by the support we receive from the Niagara Community” says Community Relations Manager, Alicia Arcangeletti.
“The hike is one of our largest fundraising events and the money raised allows Hospice Niagara to continue to offer comfort and dignity at a time when it is needed most” she adds.
Hospice Niagara would like to say a special thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers and participants who supported the 2013 Hike for Hospice Niagara.
Their generous donations helped to make this very special event a huge success.
