Mr. Duffy… why?
Wasn’t it enough to be assured of a lifelong income, reasonable stature, a place to be heard and plenty of Tory exposure as a party spokesman. Apparently you no longer know who you are or where you come from.
Recently, Canadians learned $90,000 was paid to Senator Mike Duffy by Nigel Wright a highly placed official in Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s office.
The money will allegedly allow Duffy to repay housing expenses or travel, or whatever he claimed in his role as a senator. (Something he already said he did in a “timely fashion”) Duffy has never said he owed the money only that he failed to understand the guidelines that apply. He never met with those investigating the issue.
What in the world does a former journalist, sometime senator, know or have that is worth $90,000 to anybody in or near the office of the Prime Minister or Canada. Is it a loan or a gift or a mistake of considerable magnitude?
What kind of golden friendship do we see.
There are many questions.
What person over the age of five does not know where they live? If the guidelines are hazy how did other senators figure out the rules and play by them? Doesn’t anybody talk to anybody else? Somebody help this poor soul.
Is the Prime Minister ready to bail out any other senators who have no idea where their home may be? Where does the line form? If the rules are unclear why take a chance on biting the hand that feeds you a banquet?
There are dollars at stake and there are also reputations and motives. Somebody needs to disclose what kind of return is expected on that gift or loan.
Would it ever have come to light if there wasn’t another rule Cheap viagra about disclosing large amounts gifted to people like Duffy? We can be thankful somebody knew about that rule.
Can we expect resignations? Can we expect changes in procedure? Can we expect that someone will show senators the way to go home – and the way to stay there?
Canadians may ask what kind of people are making decisions that impact their lives.
There is a world of hurt around us. Do we deserve a bush-league operation calling the shots for a truly wonderful country?
Are we paying for silence these days or for past deeds or is the future up for grabs? Who do we trust?
Mr. Duffy, there was a day when many people hung on your every word. They counted on you to dig deeply and give us the clues about who might hurt us. They believed you. It is time to write Edit 30 and pack it up.
Who will believe you now or ever?
