Niagara Falls — A warm, yet mysterious ambiance, with captivating music and impassioned dancing: This describes Quartango, Canada’s exciting tango ensemble, with dancers Roxana and Fabian. The group will be performing at the Scotiabank Convention Centre Thursday, June 20 in the Fallsview Theatre.
When four classically trained musicians — Antoine Bareil (violin), René Gosselin (double bass), Stéphane Aubin (piano) and Jonathan Goldman (bandoneon) — come together to explore and express their passion for the tango, the result is nothing short of amazing. For more than 20 years, Quartango has taken the tango to new heights, drawing on a variety of genres such as classical, jazz, salsa, Celtic and popular music.
Dancers Roxana and Fabian, who had a cameo appearance in the 2002 film The Tuxedo, a DreamWorks release starring Jackie Chan, are Toronto-based performers and teachers of the dance of their native Argentina. They add an exciting visual component to Quartango’s polished, yet emotionally moving, performances of beloved classic tangos and original compositions.
