NIAGARA FALLS – The 9th annual Niagara Falls Ribfest and BBQ 2013 comes to Optimist Park this weekend, for one last year.
It will look a little different because it will actually be located on the west side of the Optimist building, in the softball baseball diamond area.
Have no fear – Niagara Falls Ribfest and BBQ will still offer ribs, refreshments, rock ‘n roll and rides to Niagara barbecue lovers June 14, 15 and 16 – Father’s Day weekend.
There will also be a big-screen TV available in the park to watch the NHL Stanley Cup Playoff game, Friday. Find them on facebook on the page Niagara Falls Rotary Ribfest, or visit the website at www.niagarafallsribfest.com.
As well as perennial favourites such as the group More Bad News & the Horns from Hell performing live Friday night, the entertainment lineup will also feature the groups ORACLE; The Mudmen – Canada’s Celtic rock warriors; The Madhatters; THE DELCOS; Heads Up Lincoln; Travelling Beer Bellies; The Music Depot All Stars and The Marsdales.
Midway rides for the younger rib fans, with sure-to-please rides filling a large stretch of the property, will again be available. Kids’ zone will be open during Ribfest hours, beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
Six world-class ribbers will be serving up their fare to more than 24,000 fans. Cast a ballot for the coveted People’s Choice Award. Best Ribs and Best Sauce contest will be held Sunday. To supplement the world-class rib offerings, don’t forget popular food vendor favourites such as Bob’s Bloomin’ Onions; roasted corn-on-the-cob; fresh-squeezed lemonade and kettle corn.
Merchant vendors offering a variety of unique products will be a big feature at this year’s event. Once again, the daily Sunrise Rotary Club’s 50/50 draws, and a Broil King Keg BBQ Raffle will round out the event.
Ribfest hours are Friday, June 14 from noon to 11 p.m.; Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Parking is free and admission is by donation. Niagara Falls Ribfest 2013 is presented by the Rotary Club of Niagara Falls Sunrise.
