NIAGARA – Chartered accountant and partner with Deloitte, Mike Boucher of St. Catharines was elected to serve as president of the board of directors for FACS Niagara, at the organization’s annual meeting held recently in Welland.
Boucher succeeds past president, Joe McLaughlin, vice-president of Capital Initiatives and Asset Management for the YMCA of Niagara. A board member since 2005, Boucher is a former 40 under Forty Business Achievement Award recipient (2011).
His contributions to the organization include assisting the property task group for new facilities; liaison to FACS Foundation; the audit and finance committee and the governance committee.
Boucher has been noted for his leadership in updating and streamlining FACS governance structure and process.
“Joe (McLaughlin) has done an outstanding job as president these past two years,” said Boucher. “Our strategic plan is well advanced and FACS is well positioned for the future.”
The meeting also included a program of awards for foster parents, volunteers, board and community members.
A total of $78,000 in bursary assistance was presented to 39 youth in or formerly in foster care to assist with post-secondary education.
