ST. CATHARINES – The actions of ‘alert’ neighbours are being credited for helping residents of a St. Catharines townhouse escape a fire.
The incident happened Sunday at a townhouse complex located at 45 Manchester Ave.
According to Niagara Regional Police, neighbours spotted smoke coming from the upper floor of one of the units and moved quickly to help the occupants to safety.
No one was injured.
The fire was contained to a single unit.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the St. Catharines Fire Department and police.
