NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara Parks Police have announced they thwarted a planned kayak stunt over Niagara Falls.
Members of the Parks Police service recently learned a number of individuals had been planning to kayak over the Canadian side of the Horseshoe Falls.
One of the people involved was contacted by Parks Police, confirming the stunt was in the planning stages and involved one or possibly two kayakers.
Engaging in a stunt or feat without the written permission of the Niagara Parks Commission is contrary to the Niagara Parks Act of Ontario, and its regulations, and may result in a fine up to $10,000.
Should such a stunt occur, involved persons may also be subject to criminal prosecution should an involved person suffer serious bodily harm or death.
Engaging in a stunt or feat of this nature may also potentially present great risk to responding emergency services personnel.
No other details concerning the received information will be released.
