Passionate, inclusive, accountable, respectful and engaged are the characteristics embodied within the Niagara Falls Community Health Centre’s new strategic direction.
The last fiscal year has been crucial in the short history of the Niagara Falls Community Health Centre. As well as setting a new course for strategic direction by the board of directors, the announcement by the Ministry of Health of the confirmation of our funding will begin the transformation of the landmark Canadian Tire building on Victoria Avenue into our permanent site.
While the Niagara Falls CHC currently serves more than 2,800 clients, bringing health and wellness to the Niagara Falls community through primary care, illness prevention, health promotion, community capacity building and service integration, that figure is projected to reach 4,000 at the new Victoria Avenue location.
“It is a unique opportunity for staff to finally realize the optimal working environment they envisioned when they came on board,” says Henri-Louis St-Martin, executive director of the Niagara Falls CHC.
“The new space will allow us to work the way we are supposed to work; as an interdisciplinary, collaborative team in a fully accessible, well appointed space allowing us to grow the number of programs we offer the community.”
St-Martin stressed that Niagara Falls CHC board’s decision to open the new site just a stone’s throw from their current temporary one is key to providing continued, uninterrupted service as programs continue to experience unprecedented growth.
“By choosing the Canadian Tire building the board decided to stay in our current neighborhood” he said, adding that all services at the new site will be on a single floor.
Staff at the Niagara Falls CHC is committed to what they do, feels St-Martin, stressing their “passion” for clients and the vocations they love. “They are respectful of the life experience individual clients bring knowing that it may entail tailoring their individual care.” And, they will now have a much larger, more efficient place in which to do just that.
Please join us on at our annual general meeting on Monday Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. in the Community Room of the Niagara Falls Community Health Centre located at 4481 Queen St. to meet our staff, board, partners and members.
