Niagara Parks Commission
NIAGARA FALLS – Once described as “the prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world” by Sir Winston Churchill, the 56-kilometre Niagara Parkway offers breathtaking views along the Niagara River year ’round.
In autumn, the colour change adds a whole new dimension to this experience, with bold red, gold and orange leaves currently at their peak, which will slowly taper off over the coming weeks.
A popular destination for hiking and cycling, the Niagara River Recreational Trail also offers two seasonal bicycle rental facilities, operated by ZOOM Leisure, at Smuggler’s Cove in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and at the Whirlpool Aero Car attraction (call to confirm availability: 1-866-811-6993).
The trail is not only beautiful, but also educational, with more than 100 historic plaques, sites and monuments located all along the Niagara River.
