WELLAND – Niagara Regional Police said Monday an autopsy of the remains of Reg. Coun. and former Welland MPP Peter Kormos showed no signs of foul play.
Kormos was found dead inside his Welland home on Saturday.
Given the circumstances police were called to investigate the circumstances.
Throughout the weekend, there was a police presence outside his home, guarding the scene until an autopsy could be performed.
The post-mortem examination was conducted Monday.
“The cause of death has been determined and the results of the examination revealed no suspicious circumstances regarding his death,” police officials said in a statement Monday afternoon.
“Police investigation regarding the death of Mr. Kormos has been concluded.”
A memorial service is being planned for Kormos, but no details have yet been made public.
Meanwhile, Welland NDP MPP Cindy Forster is making a book available in her Welland constituency office at 60 King St. for people to express their grief and share their condolences.
The book will be available Tuesday morning and everyone is welcome to sign it.
